DJAARA CULTURAL COMPETENCY PROGRAMS

Our Cultural Competency Programs are cultural experiences which provide participants with a greater understanding of Dja Dja Wurrung Country’s rich cultural heritage and the living history of the traditional owners, Djaara (Dja Dja Wurrung People).

Learn about Djaara cultural protocols, our heritage, the repatriation of language, cultural management, and the impacts of colonisation on Djaara and Djandak (Country).

DUMAWUL provides Djaara cultural consultation and the Djaara Cultural Competency Program, training public and private businesses and organisations via training days, workshops, on Country and individual engagements.

DJARRA CULTURAL COMPETENCY PROGRAM (DCCP)

The Djaara Cultural Competency Program (DCCP) empowers teams with ethical decision-making in the workplace, enabling them to confidently understand cultural protocols and to make informed decisions that are culturally appropriate and keep projects moving.

DUMAWUL works in close partnership with DJANDAK’s Land Use Agreement (LUA) team and DJAARA’s Recognition of Settlement Agreement requirements; and may be engaged to deliver cultural education, support the commission of artwork, or provide other cultural consultancy advice that has been agreed upon by the public and private parties involved.

DUMAWUL’s cultural education is delivered with an individualised approach, suitable for the needs of your business or organisation.

DJAARA CULTURAL COMPETENCY PROGRAM TRAINING

The Djaara Cultural Competency Program (DCCP), is a unique opportunity for teams, executives and Boards at varying levels to delve into the rich cultural heritage of the Dja Dja Wurrung Country.

Undertaking DCCP training is an enriching cultural experience and a step towards broader social responsibility and cultural awareness. Our program is an immersive cultural experience providing participants with a greater understanding of Dja Dja Wurrung Country’s rich cultural heritage and the living history of the traditional owners, Djaara (Dja Dja Wurrung People).

Participants learn about Djaara cultural protocols, our heritage, the repatriation of language, cultural management, and the impacts of colonisation on Djaara and Djandak (Country). The program covers essential topics such as cultural awareness, significant events, sensitivity, communication, and respect, all delivered by Djaara leaders and facilitators with specific expertise.

The DCCP takes place in the DUMAWUL Creative Arts Hub’s dedicated training rooms and facilities. The program includes both engaging classroom sessions and heading outdoors on Country. Outdoor segments involve guided walking tours at culturally significant sites, allowing participants to partake in traditional ceremonies and witness the vibrancy of Djaara heritage firsthand.

As a unique addition, we offer private art viewings within our permanent gallery space within the DUMAWUL Creative Arts Hub, where DCCP participants can appreciate and purchase Djarra art. This unique opportunity allows you to embed a piece of our rich culture into your organisation.

Each program is prepared uniquely for the needs of your organisation or industry. We welcome you and your team to an enriching learning and cultural immersion day with the Djaara Cultural Competency Program.
