Made from locally sourced Black Wattle, the number seven Datim-datim (boomerang) represents the strong relationship between Country and Djaara.
Carving this piece requires both privilege and caution to ensure we respect the Black Wattle and the grain, which reveals a history of nourishment, character and deep connection to Country.
The design burnt into the Datim-datim is the reflective story of how it was used: to hunt, to hold with two hands, to throw with power and treat the kill with the highest respect and gratitude.
This Datim-datim stands tall, demanding the respect through the pattern within its grain, empowered by its presence and shaped with caution.
Black wattle and pyrography.
